3 Reasons Why You Should Attend A Wellness Retreat

Retreats seem to be popping up everywhere and becoming increasingly more common. Wellness retreats are quickly replacing the standard vacation as more people look to take charge of their own health. After leading a recent wellness retreat of my own and seeing the positive impacts on health that these getaways have, I was encouraged to write a post in hopes of inspiring others to attend more retreats. Here are my top reasons for why you should attend a wellness retreat:

Self Care

We always tend to put ourselves last in terms of self-care. It seems as though after all our other basic needs are met, there is little time to actually take care of ourselves. Sure, eating well, exercise and spending time with friends and family is considered self-care, but I am talking about really taking time for yourself and doing nothing but focusing on YOU.

When was the last time you took a few days to disconnect and spend time away from daily life stressors? After all, the real healing begins with you.

Taking time out for you every so often is so important. It helps clear your head, reset priorities and even gain a little extra motivation to sustain optimal health. Wellness retreats are a great place to rejuvenate so that you not only nourish yourself, but are left empowered to return home and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Support

At a wellness retreat, you are surrounded by other individuals who seek to improve their health. It can be helpful and encouraging to meet like-minded people that may share similar health struggles. Everything seems easier if you have support, right? The compassionate and inclusive group environment allows for you to relax and feel at ease, making it an ideal space to surrender and focus on self improvement.

Plus, it is a great space for establishing new relationships. Many long lasting friendships are made from attending wellness retreats. If anything, it is always healthy to meet new friends!

Improved Health

Many people leave wellness retreats feeling refreshed and empowered to fully restore their health. In fact, a study conducted by The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that wellness retreats can “…lead to substantial improvements in multiple dimensions of health and well-being.”

Furthermore, women who participated in a 5-day retreat full of yoga and meditation experienced improvements in spirituality, gratitude, self-love and anxiety. Whether it be centered in the refreshing mountains or located near the calming, serene ocean, these retreats can truly bring peace to the mind and body.

Where else can you go to have all nutrient-dense and nourishing meals freshly prepared as well as several healing yoga classes to help center the mind and body?  Wellness retreats are designed to help educate and inspire you to return home with all the tools in your tool belt needed to take care of yourself. Many people find that the retreat is just what they needed to get things back on track as they leave feeling educated and empowered from a few days of self love.
